Spin-Cast Barrier Coating Project

Spin cast barrier coating project

Mathis Plumbing was engaged by Eaton’s Engineering to address recurring stoppage issues in the facility’s cast iron sewer lines. The affected piping was located beneath the plant floor, running under significant operational equipment, presenting access challenges.

To resolve the issue, Eaton requested Mathis Plumbing to descale and apply a Barrier Coating to sections of the cast iron sewer lines. Prior to initiating the coating process, Mathis Plumbing conducted a detailed assessment to identify strategic access points. This involved saw-cutting and removing sections of concrete, followed by excavation and the installation of clean-outs to allow for proper system access.

Once the necessary clean-outs were in place, the concrete was restored, and Mathis proceeded with the Spin-Cast Barrier Coating application. This rehabilitative process not only restored the integrity of the existing cast iron piping but also significantly extended its service life.

As a result of the work performed, the plant has seen a substantial reduction—and in some areas, elimination—of sewer line stoppages, while also benefiting from the long-term protection of its underground piping infrastructure.
