 Our
History
Founded
in 1952 by Ralph H. Mathis, Mathis Plumbing, Heating and Air
is a family owned business located in Greenwood, S.C.
With the assistance of his wife, Betsy, Ralph began operating
out of his garage with only one truck providing plumbing and
heating service for his customers. In addition to raising
three children, Betsy kept the books, answered the phone and
dispatched the calls to Ralph.
Today, Ralph and Betsy have
retired but all three of their children work in the business
as well as some grandchildren.
Sons Jimmy and Wayne have
both worked full-time in all aspects of the business since
Jimmy graduated from Lander College in 1972 and Wayne
graduated from The Citadel in 1975. Daughter, Jean Ann,
who handles many of the office duties, is the friendly voice
that usually answers the phone and assists or directs the
calls to the appropriate department or person.
In 2005, Mathis acquired Benjamin's Heating and Cooling which was another strong family owned business
that opened its doors in 1946. The addition of Benjamins compliments and expands Mathis Plumbing
Heating and Air’s overall quality services. Mathis has evolved and provides design, sales and
installation of residential, commercial, industrial/institutional Plumbing and HVAC Systems. The
company also has expertise in designing and installing boiler systems and replacement boilers.
Mathis Plumbing Heating and Air continues to offer complete, expert service in each of these fields
to ensure the comfort and safety of its customers and the reliability of every system they install.
The company has survived for
more than five decades due to one main ingredient, Customer
Satisfaction. Spanning three generations, the Mathis
name has been recognized for unequalled quality service.
 They
understand in today's busy world that their customers do not
have the time to wait on service. Generally, Mathis can
provide same-day service by clean, uniformed technicians that
are ready to service all of their customers' Plumbing, Heating
and Air needs.
Mathis' Service technicians
will arrive at the customer's home or business with over 2,000
parts in their rolling warehouse and the customer will not
have to wait for a trip to the supply house to get the needed
parts. Bottom line... more trucks, more qualified
technicians, less time. That is why over the years,
Mathis Plumbing, Heating and Air has been one of the most
sought-after service companies in the area.

area for quality work and service. In 2002 and 2003,
Mathis was recognized by a National Organization,
"Contractor's 2000," as one of the Top 10 contract companies
for financial performance in the country.

Roundtable," other networking groups, Chamber of Commerce and
Greenwood "Economic Alliance" are among the national and local
associations Mathis Plumbing, Heating and Air is active in.
Mathis Plumbing, Heating and
Air has always and will continue to support and assist in
